Bellingham Yoga

Description: Class begins with a positive meditation and breathwork, grounding us for our practice.  We move with the breath through asanas with the support of the hammock, always mindful of our posture.  Each class includes optional hammock supported inversions.  Concluding the class we will relax deeply inside the hammock for savasana, allowing our body to gently float in the air.  Our aim is to be safe, have a lot of fun and to walk away feeling refreshed and rejuvenated through the whole body-mind system.

This class is open to all fitness levels and ages 18 and up. 

Safety is our number 1 priority so please abide by the following:

*Contraindications for inversions in this practice include:

**Jewelry is not allowed in class because it can snag the fabric.  Snags in the fabric will compromise the integrity of the material to support human weight.  Please remove all jewelry prior to starting class - especially rings!

***Please arrive 5-15 minutes early so we have time to set up the appropriate hammock height for you and start class on time.

Ruby KoaGentle Flow Yoga

Description: Relax and unwind with a slower and more meditative flowing class focusing on breath and mindfulness. Perfect for the student new to yoga or not who wishes to practice at a gentler pace due to health conditions, injuries, stiffness, or even just the need to relieve stress.  One or two restorative style postures held for moderate amounts of time with the use of props will be included within a gentle floor sequence as well as some standing and core strengthening postures. During most classes sound healing instruments such as the gong, Tibetan and crystal singing bowls, and chimes are used to deepen your relaxation. As a bonus, from time to time, local singer Ann MacDonald graces us with her presence, playing her gem stone infused singing Bowls & offering her beautiful yogic chants.

Description: Strength & Conditioning with the heavier Clubbells is not as scary as you may think. These 10-15lb Clubbells are highly effective to train the arms, core and legs in every exercise. Expect to wake up muscles that normally don't get trained in conventional strength training, and learn how to integrate interval training into your workouts.

Description: Kundalini Yoga is the yoga of awareness. It is the fastest acting yoga known, as it quickly balances the different systems of the body and opens us to connect with ourselves. It physically works to bring us into balance and release tension and stress. Kundalini Yoga quiets the mind and calms the nervous system, energetically revitalizing our entire system. In Kundalini Yoga we incorporate yoga postures (Asana), breath (Pranayama), saying words with a peaceful vibration (Mantra), using hand positions to direct energy (Mudras) and meditation.

This allows for a safe, healing atmosphere for all and the chance to explore the vast amount of teachings and techniques specifically for women that Yogi Bhajan shared. Gain tools for developing physical strength and discipline, inner radiance, and grace to face the challenges of life.

Description: Mellow Yoga is a moderately paced practice introducing the link between posture and breath and exploring deep relaxation and ease within a few restorative poses. This class is open to all levels and allows the body to find warmth, balance and smooth, flowing energy while calming the nervous system and preparing the mind for a restful night's sleep.

Tai Chi for Beginners

Description: We will be learning the Tai Chi of Master Yang Chang Fu, more commonly known as Yang Style Tai Chi. The class will focus on alert relaxation, stable body posture and movements to experience the flow of energy or Qi. The benefits of Tai Chi include stress reduction, increased lower body strength, improved balance, posture, and body alignment.

Transformational Breath Class

When: Monday’s 7:15 – 8:30pm (You may join us from 8:30 - 8:45 for a sharing circle).

Description: Discover how breath is the key to Personal Transformation. In this Transformational Breath Class you will be introduced to Transformational Breath, it’s benefits and experience a breathing session. These sessions are facilitated by a wonderful staff to help coach and support your Breath Journey.

What is Transformational Breath?
Transformational Breath is a self empowering breathing modality that can transform one’s life. Transformational Breath uses a dynamic and powerful breathing pattern to open the breath and oxygenate the cells. By opening and clearing the restrictions in the respiratory system we are able to bring in more breath with each inhale. More breath in our system means more oxygen and prana or life force for our cells to function more efficiently, as well as more energy and vitality. The breathing pattern we use in Transformational Breath creates a high vibration energy field; this energy field helps integrate unconscious patterns, energy blocks and past trauma. As we expand the breath, integrate and free up the stuck energy in our bodies, we open to being in deeper connection with Spirit (whatever that is for you).

Description: Build strength, flexibility, and concentration while cleansing the body and calming the mind through Vinyasa, or the synchronization of breath and movement. Though Ruby's most challenging class,it is still more accessible to most than the usual Ashtanga or Power yoga class in that modified versions of more difficult postures will always be given and the pace isn’t rushed. This makes the class appropriate for active beginners through to more intermediate students. Though loosely based on the Ashtanga style of yoga, the sequence varies some in each class.

Description: This is a mixed level class with options given to practice the poses in a gentler or more advanced way, encouraging students to listen to their bodies. Some challenging poses may be playfully introduced with emphasis on developing awareness of body and breath as a moving meditation. Each class is uniquely molded to suit the students present that night. Bits of other styles of yoga &/or practices from other traditions as well as breath work, meditation and mantra are sometimes woven into the theme of the day.

Description: Through the practice of vinyasa yoga, I lead my students through a meditative experience to enhance their sense of self and self-love. In this space, we will move our bodies without judgement, competition, or fear. Breathing is an essential aspect to this class. The breath is what guides us, helps us move with purpose. This class also offers effective strengthening asanas, as well as postures to increase flexibility. The last moments of class will be a guided meditation to further the physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing of all students. Most importantly, this class offers a safe, comfortable space to have fun and enjoy each other’s energies! Open to students of all levels.

Description: Yoga for Alignment, Strength, and Wellness is a deep internal and physical practice designed to cultivate greater awareness of body, mind, and spirit. Each unique class is a blend of pranayama (breath work) and flowing and static poses that lead to an apex pose. Class is student centered and designed to challenge the beginner to advanced yogi with careful attention to alignment and postural integration. Yoga for Alignment, Strength, and Wellness will help you stand taller, breathe freer, and be more grounded in life.

Description: Getting tired of being desk bound all day? Try fitting a little yoga into your work week- it’ll help you relieve stress, breathe more fully, and increase your strength and flexibility all at the same time! Whether you’re new to yoga or not, this all levels Vinyasa Flow class will leave you feeling relaxed and invigorated.  The Thursday class tends to be slightly less challenging and usually include one restorative or more gentle posture.
